Conchobar

Conchobar
In Celtic myth he was the child of Fathach and Nessa and the brother of Dechtere. On the death of his father his mother persuaded the then King of Ulster, Fergus, to allow her son to occupy the throne for a year, at the end of which time the nobles refused to allow Fergus to return. Conchobar married first Medb, and after she had left him for Ailill he married her sister Eithne. He appears to have been a wise and successful king. The story of Deirdre and Naoise, one of the most tragic of the Celtic love stories, is intimately linked with him.
